The Manchester United supporting punters here in the Transfer Tavern are already looking towards next season, with Jose Mourinho looking set to take over the managerial hot seat during the summer.
The former Chelsea boss’ arrival is likely to indicate a squad rebuilding process at Old Trafford and many of the current crop must be fearful over their future.
Several fans here in the Tavern this evening have started to discuss what will happen to some of the current squad, and are also eagerly anticipating who might be potentially signed, should a new manager take charge of the team.
With United miles behind Leicester City who sit top of the Premier League at present, some serious changes are needed at the club in order to bring back the glory days.
The Transfer Tavern’s news writer Lee Clarke took a look at THREE players who should leave United in the summer and three who could arrive……

Three out
Memphis Depay
In truth, the Dutch winger has been a complete and utter waste of time and money from the moment he first popped the number seven shirt over his head.
The £25 million signing has largely disappointed the club’s supporters, and you could count on one hand the amount of times he has had a real influence on a game this season.
Dutch football is completely different to the English Premier League and Depay simply hasn’t proved yet that he is cut out for top flight football in this country.
The 22-year-old still has time on his side but he hasn’t shown anything during this season that suggests he can go on to be one of the all-time Manchester United greats.
Marouane Fellaini
The ex-Everton man is still earning a crust at Manchester United despite doing very little except for being a nuisance.
David Moyes signed the midfielder during his time at the club and he has quite frankly never remotely looked like a player who can be classed a Manchester United player.
He is largely ineffective for the team, yet having been signed for an absolute fortune, the club are now struggling to offload the Belgian, such are his excessive wage demands.
The summer months will probably see United cut their losses with the eccentric player and he could possibly go down as one of the worst Manchester United players in history.
Michael Carrick
The England international is out of contract this summer and with no talks of a new one forthcoming, he may opt to venture towards pastures new.
Arsenal had reportedly been interested in the player and despite his age catching up with him, he could most certainly still do a job for a top-end Premier League club.
With Jose Mourinho set to join the club it is highly unlikely that he will offer the 34-year-old a new deal and his departure is seemingly inevitable at the moment.
With Carrick set to be named in the England squad which travels to the Euros this summer, no decision on his future is likely to be made until after the tournament.
Three In…
Marco Reus
The Borussia Dortmund forward has shown loyalty in abundance when it comes to sticking with the German club, but you have to feel that it is simply a matter of time before he joins one of Europe’s elite.
Whilst it has been a while since United won the Premier League title, you would be hard pushed to say that they are no longer classed as one of the world’s top clubs -frankly, they still are!
I would be amazed if the little Germany international doesn’t move to a new club this summer, and Reus would be a superb replacement for the underachieving Memphis Depay.
John Stones
Whilst Stones is by no means the finished article just yet, United are crying out for a defensive reinforcement to come into the club.
With his tender years, the Everton central defender could learn his trade at the club and go on to be a mainstay in the side for many years to come.
Doubts have been cast over Stones’ concentration levels and his keenness to play the ball out from the back far too often. He still has much to learn but he will undoubtedly go on to become a top player, for a top club.
Everton will probably be forced to sell one of their prized assets this summer and Stones could be the one they choose to cash in, especially if it means keeping Romelu Lukaku at Goodison Park.
Toni Kroos
With Michael Carrick looking more and more likely to leave Old Trafford during the summer, United are likely to be on the lookout for a midfield general during the transfer window.
Real Madrid are seemingly set to entertain bids for the German midfielder and with Arsenal set to make a move, United could well chose to go into a tug-of-war with their fierce rivals.
It is unsure how much the Spanish giants will want for their player but United won’t be short of cash this summer, as the club look to go on a spending spree to ensure they don’t get left behind by their rivals.
Kroos would be a superb addition to the Premier League and at 26-years-old, he also has plenty of time on his side to shine at a club like Manchester United.
