Nottingham Forest will look to book their place in the quarter-final of the League Cup when they meet Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium on Tuesday night.
Aitor Karanka’s side will be feeling confident ahead of the local derby as they have been performing to a high standard in the Championship, whilst their opponents have struggled to get going in League One.
Jack Colback will be absent for the game after he picked up his fifth yellow card against Leeds United at the weekend, meaning he needs to serve a one-match ban.
However, the Tricky Trees have played a number of fixtures recently and the Spaniard has admitted that he will make a number of changes for the game, which would likely have affected the midfielder.
“I will make changes because I have players who have played three games in one week,” he told the club’s official website.
“I need to check with the medical department how they are but the 11 players who go to the pitch will be the best players for the game.
“It is important because with the squad we have, it is important for the players who are not playing or who have the chance to play, to show me that they are ready.
“I have said always that I do not have one team for the cup and one for the league, and tomorrow I will put out the best 11. It is true that the more games we have, the better it will be for everybody.”
Nottingham Forest will be considered strong favourites to reach the quarter-finals of the League Cup, although the competition does have a habit of throwing up shocks and surprises.
Colback’s absence will have come as a frustration to Karanka, although it is unlikely that he would have been involved if he were available for the City Ground outfit.
The Reds have a number of players to choose from that will allow them to field a strong side on Tuesday night, leaving the manager with a number of possible exciting options to choose from.
