The Tavern’s landlord saw his side absolutely walk the Championship but the gap between the second-tier and top-flight is increasingly growing, meaning the only way to strengthen is by splashing the cash.

With deadline day quickly approaching, clubs begin to rack up their price tags for key players and that means it’ll become an ongoing struggle for Benitez to improve his squad this summer, and to avoid a potential relegation scrap.

So with time swiftly running out, Newcastle United must solve these TWO problems before the window closes next week….

Address the lackluster strike force

Chances have certainly not at a premium but the failure to be clinical enough in front of the net is what led to the Magpies to this point.

Rafa Benitez’s striking options aren’t a huge amount to shout about, so they certainly could do with some additions.

Fans in the Tavern want to see progress on Tyneside, so the club should make an ambitious move to bring a reliable striker to their ranks, perhaps former Newcastle man Loic Remy.

Reinforce the frail back line

Finding a consistent goalkeeper can be a difficult task to comprehend in the modern game as a number of managers tend to prefer a ball-at-feet player rather than a shot-stopper, which is particularly why Newcastle are shipping goals this year.

Fans by the bar demand an old-style ‘keeper between the sticks and that is surely a player that the squad doesn’t have at this moment in time, so is definitely an area that needs to be solved as soon as possible.

If Benitez wants to stop goals at one end of the pitch then it has to be invested in, the only problem being their lackluster transfer budget and prices sky-rocketing as we approach deadline day.
