The Daily Mail is reporting that a host of Premiership sides are tracking Middlesbrough ’s England U21 international Joe Bennett .
The youngster is a full back and has played a large number of games already for the Riversiders since making his debut in 2008. The 21 year old has been attracting interest from Sunderland , Tottenham, Manchester City and Aston Villa , in addition to Liverpool, but the player only signed a new four and half year contract back in January, so it remains to seen whether the player will want to move.
Tony Mowbray isn’t a happy bunny, however telling the Mirror…
“I haven’t had any calls about Joe Bennett and I wouldn’t welcome any. Joe has recently signed a new deal for four-and-a-half years and I think he’s happy here. He’s still a young boy.
It depends what day you come and watch Joe Bennett. If you’re a Premier League manager, coach or scout, some days he’s unbelievable and could play for anybody.
“Other days, he’s just a young boy playing left-back at the wrong end of the Championship. I think he needs to stay here and develop. We don’t need to sell Joe Bennett.’’
