Tottenham Hotspur: Fans loving new assistant head coach Joao Sacramento

Plenty of Tottenham Hotspur fans appear to already love their new assistant head coach Joao Sacramento.

The 30-year-old joined the Spurs coaching staff following the arrival of Jose Mourinho, becoming the Portuguese’s right hand man instead of Rui Faria, who had previously held the position at Manchester United and Chelsea.

He has been described by The Times as a “superfan” of Mourinho having studied his methodologies and philosophies in the past. It is therefore some rise for him to go from that to being part of the 56-year-old’s team.

Like Mourinho, he has had an unusual route into the game. He studied for a degree in football coaching and performance at the University of South Wales as well as a master’s and his teacher there has described him as “very meticulous, determined and motivated” (BBC Sport).

He then went on to work at at Lille where he was part of Christophe Galtier and Marcelo Bielsa’s staff at the Ligue 1 club before ultimately joining Mourinho at Spurs.

Prior to Tottenham’s final Champions League group game against Bayern Munich on Wednesday, Sacramento took some time out to do an interview with the club’s official Twitter account.

After the interview was published, plenty of Spurs fans rushed to heap praise on the coach and some even suggested that he could be a future manager of the club.
