It was a disappointing evening in Germany for Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday as they succumbed to a 3-1 defeat against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
However, despite the loss at the hands of the Bundesliga club, several Spurs fans have managed to find at least some positives from the game – one being the performance of Juan Foyth.
The Argentinian was one of few who played fairly well, indeed he won six out of seven ground duels, made six clearances, one interception and blocked one shot in the 90 minutes (via SofaScore).
Foyth hasn’t been a regular for Tottenham this season under either Mauricio Pochettino or Jose Mourinho and had started just one game in all competitions prior to their visit to the Allianz (Transfermarkt).
His performance may have given his manager something to think about for the games ahead though and he could well challenge the likes of Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez for starts.
Plenty of Spurs fans were certainly impressed with how Foyth played on Wednesday night and took to social media to praise him. Here is what some had to say…
Played decently, FB’s let him down along with the midfield. But him and Alderweireld were good.

He was immense

Think he was decent tonight. Midfield let us down and we paid for it. Courtinho played us off the park. But fair play Juan. Places up for grabs in the next few months.

I like Foyth, but I don’t think he has enough pace to be a RB despite our desperate situation. He is better suited as a CB, but could he also play just in front of the defence? He is calm under pressure and distributes the ball well.

Foyth has definitely earned right to start more games

Foyth is so, so good. much better than Sanchez it’s unreal. Playing brilliantly even though there’s no support from the fullbacks or the midfield.
