Tottenham Hotspur are set to begin talks with goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga regarding a new deal for the Argentinian, that is according to Football Insider.
The 27-year-old has been the second choice shot-stopper at the club for the majority of his stay, but he has started in their last eight Premier League outings due to an injury to Hugo Lloris (Transfermarkt).
According to the report, Gazzaniga has made a “big impression” during his spell between the sticks for Spurs and, as a result, the club are keen to extend his stay.
His current deal runs until the summer of 2022, but it is thought that he is one of the lowest paid senior players in the squad.
There has been quite a mixed response from supporters after seeing that the Argentine is set to be offered fresh terms at the club.
Some think that it is well deserved, others are happy with it as long as he remains the number two goalkeeper, whilst a few do not seem too keen on him penning a new deal.
Here is what some had to say on Twitter…
Excellent, he is a great keeper and not too shabby on the eyes 🤗

I’m not ready to see him as our no.1 but happy if he’s happy to stay as our no.2

Good absolutely deserved. Even though he’s our #2, he’s gone above and beyond filling in Hugo’s shoes.

He’s not the answer, fine as a number 2 but not hood enough for 1st choice
