Speaking to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur 'insider' John Wenham, who regularly breaks news on his Lilywhites Rose social media account, has shared what he thinks on Dilan Markanday's future at N17.

The Lowdown: Markanday turning heads...

The 20-year-old has been in scintillating form for Tottenham's Under-23s so far this season, scoring eight goals and bagging a further two assists in just eight Premier League 2 appearances so far (Transfermarkt).

This form has seemingly grabbed the attention of manager Nuno Espirito Santo, who handed Markanday his senior Spurs debut in the 1-0 away defeat to Vitesse last week.

Coming after he extended his stay at Tottenham until 2022 earlier this year, Wenham has shared what he believes the future could hold for this exciting winger.

The Latest: Wenham shares new deal theory...

Speaking to FI, the Spurs 'insider' believes that Markanday 'might be offered a new contract soon' based off what he's seen from Tottenham's social media channels.

"I get the impression from Tottenham’s social media presence that he might be offered a new contract soon," Wenham explained.

“I don’t know anything for sure but from their media posts and what he’s been posting in response to that, I think we could hear some contract news.

“Last year there was an announcement that his contract runs until 2022.

“That will be the 30th of June of next year. That means he could sign a pre-contract with someone in January.

“That’s not too far away but because there is no real speculation about a move, I assume Tottenham have a ‘plus one-year’ option on the deal.

“They need to give him something longer than that anyway.

"I would imagine Tottenham are confident of getting a deal done or already have something signed.

“They are doing a lot of promoting him on social media and clubs don’t tend to do that if the player is at risk of leaving.”

The Verdict: Get it sorted...

Following the breakthroughs of Dane Scarlett, Oliver Skipp and Troy Parrott in recent seasons, it appears Spurs could have yet another dazzling starlet on their hands in Markanday - especially judging by his numbers at youth level.

He also made history for Spurs as the first ever player of Indian descent to play a first team game for the club, with the man himself speaking of this milestone and hoping it inspires young Asian footballers everywhere (tottenhamhotspur.com).

It appears he could have the right attitude off the pitch as well as ability on it, surely extending his stay is a no-brainer for Tottenham?
