Reacting to news shared by reliable Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold that Lilywhites star Son Heung-min is set to stay in north London over the international break, pundit and Sky Sports regular Paul Robinson has told Football Insider that it's 'great news for Spurs'.

Indeed, the South Korea superstar has been 'excluded from international duty for next week's friendly in Japan due to his hamstring injury', as shared by Gold, even though he is expected to recover from his knock by the end of March (Football Insider).

Arguably Spurs' most important player bar striker Harry Kane, the 28-year-old has bagged 13 goals and 9 assists in the Premier League over 2020/2021, and only his attacking counterpart has accumulated better numbers (WhoScored).

Robinson thrilled by Son update for Spurs

Reacting to this update that Son is set to miss the friendly against Japan, Robinson has labelled it 'great news for Spurs' and 'huge' that he will stay with the medical staff over this international break.

"It is great news for Spurs because now he can prepare himself for the Premier League run-in,” he explained to Football Insider.

"The relationship he has with Harry Kane is amazing. Their best partnership is the best in the Premier League and one of the best we have ever seen in England.

“For him to stay with the medical staff at Spurs over the international break is huge. That way they can make sure he is right for the next game because it is going to be a hugely important few weeks for Spurs.”

Transfer Tavern take

Given his importance to manager Jose Mourinho, as displayed by his goal involvement numbers, it's little wonder Robinson is thrilled by this update.

Time will tell whether he is in fact 'right' for the next game, but Lilywhites supporters will certainly be hoping that is the case.
