Tottenham make contact with Chelsea about potential deal for “technical” forward

The 2025 summer transfer window has been all about strikers — and Premier League clubs are leading the chaos.

It’s felt like a moving roundabout in real-time, with top sides circling the same targets, jumping the queue, and stealing deals from one another.

In a matter of weeks, we’ve seen Arsenal land Manchester United’s top target Viktor Gyökeres, Chelsea snap up Newcastle’s target Liam Delap, and Liverpool beat the Magpies to Hugo Ekitike before then turning their attention to Aleksander Isak — who is now training alone in a bid to force a move.

As if that weren’t enough, Manchester United are now closing in on Benjamin Šeško, a player Newcastle have also tracked for months. All signs point to United getting that deal over the line, completing a brutal sequence of transfer blows for Eddie Howe’s side.

Now, Tottenham Hotspur are looking to get in on the action — and perhaps complete the striker merry-go-round by making a move of their own.

Spurs Make Contact for Jackson

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have “made contact” with Chelsea over a potential deal for striker Nicolas Jackson.

The Senegal international — also on Newcastle’s radar — is reportedly surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, following the arrivals of both Liam Delap and João Pedro. With Chelsea reshaping their frontline, Jackson could be the odd man out.

Spurs are said to be monitoring his situation closely, especially with Richarlison expected to leave this summer. The Brazilian has been linked with moves to both Italy and Turkey, and his exit would leave a gaping hole in Thomas Frank’s attack.

Chelsea, for their part, have placed a hefty £100 million price tag on Jackson’s head. While that figure might deter some suitors, Tottenham could be tempted — especially if Richarlison departs as expected.

Jackson, described as “technical” by Premier League legend Peter Crouch, scored 13 goals in all competitions for Chelsea last season. It’s a decent return on paper, though most of those came early in the campaign — with his form tailing off significantly in the second half of the season.

Spurs are in the market for a reliable striker, with Dominic Solanke so far failing to live up to expectations following his big-money move. Jackson, though still raw, is a player with undeniable upside.

But make no mistake — this is a high-risk, high-reward type of signing. He could turn into a world-beater… or he could flop entirely.
