The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern have found yet another reason to raise their glasses this afternoon following reports from TEAMtalk that manager Mauricio Pochettino has agreed a new five-year deal at the club.
Since arriving from Southampton in 2014, the Argentine has cleared out the deadwood left by the likes of Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood in the wake of Gareth Bale’s blockbuster move to Real Madrid the year before.
Not only that, but the former Espanyol coach has crafted a dynamic young side that has challenge for the title for much of the campaign, on a relatively small budget.
As a result of his stunning work at White Hart Lane, he’s been linked with jobs at Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in recent months.
However, it is reported that a new deal has been agreed upon in North London as they plot a long-term plan heading into a brand new stadium.
‘It was an easy decision when you feel the love of the people and the potential of the club is massive, so why change?’ announced the 44-year old on Friday.
“We create a good atmosphere on the training ground and I think we can achieve big things in the future. I believe in this project and this club. I want to stay here.”
