Still in the hunt for more clout upfront, Birmingham have been linked with yet another attacking player according to The Sun.
After moves for Kenwyne Jones, Kevin Kuranyi and Ryan Babel have all failed to materialise, Alex McLeish has now set his sights on Celtic attacking midfielder Aiden McGeady.
The former Rangers manager is said to have been an admirer of the player for a long time and is now set to step up his attempts to bring the player to St. Andrews after reportedly having an £8m bid previously rejected.
Earlier this month Celtic claimed that there was no money that could cause them to part company with the 23 year old but it appears their stance has softened as Celtic number 2, Mark Venus said:
‘Every footballer has his price, I would suggest at any football club. So it would be folly of me to sit here and say to you that there’s no way Aiden McGeady’s leaving. But I would suggest it would probably take a lot of money.’
McGeady has risen into the Celtic first team having played for both the academy and reserves and has won 3 SPL titles since his first team debut in April 2004. He was Celtic’s player of the year in 2008 and has scored 5 goals this season.

Their stance hasn’t softened, there is very little chance of McGeady leaving Celtic. What Venus actually said was it would take a man city money type offer, Birminghams offer would need to be nearer £20m to temp us to sell, and i cant imagine you’d want to spend 2/3rds of your transfer budget on one player.
