Chelsea fans are rushing over to the bar here in the Football Transfer Tavern as our landlord presents them with a viral image of the title winners from the last 22 Premier League seasons.
The Blues were of course top of the pile at Christmas but may be slightly worried to learn that out of the last 22 seasons, the team at the top come Christmas has only gone on to lift the title ten times!
However in the last ten seasons, the team top at Christmas has won the league an impressive seven times – and on three of those occasions, the Blues were the team in question.
We actually think this is a good omen for the west London club and despite Manchester City taking full advantage of Liverpool’s slip up last season, Jose Mourinho will make sure that does not happen to his men.
