Manchester United ground out an excellent 2-1 win over Chelsea on Sunday to put them back in pole position to seal second place behind rivals City and cement a place in the Champions League once again for next term.
The Red Devils are looking at times like they are painfully close to being able to challenge City on their day, and with the January addition of Alexis Sanchez, the club may well be able to mount a stronger challenge next season.
However, there’s always going to be more needed for United if they are to challenge Pep’s men, and this summer represents a chance for Mourinho to once again dip into the market and add some pieces to the jigsaw.
With Michael Carrick set to move on come the summer, United may well be looking for someone in his mould to join the club, and one such player who has come to our landlord’s mind is Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro, who has been going about his business for Los Blancos for a number of years now with minimal fuss.
The Brazilian is the sort of player who is integral in a team full of creative players, given his ability to just sit in and break up the play while he fellow attacking stars do the business in the opponents box.
He might not want to leave Madrid, but the Spanish club have had a poor season, and with a huge summer shake up likely on the way, Casemiro might well end up being one of the casualties for Zinedine Zidane’s side.
