The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have been responding to the rumours that the club could be on the verge of signing Andros Townsend back from Crystal Palace this summer. The club has been linked to the winger and the fans are all for it, with an agreement yet to be made.

The Magpies in the Tavern will be keen on getting some signings into the club ASAP. The only two players to be brought into the club this summer so far are Martin Dubravka for £3 million and Ki Sung-Yeung on a free transfer. Whilst this may have been some superb business from their coy Spanish gaffer, the fans want more from their club and they’re calling for money to spent on the likes of Townsend and other players.
Andros Townsend was signed at St James Park back in January 2016, however, the Magpies went down that season despite the ex-Spurs winger’s best efforts and he was then sold on again to Selhurst Park that summer. Now though, we’re two years on from that summer and Townsend could be on his way back to the Northeast and the fans would be delighted to see the experienced Premier League quality winger to rejoin the Geordies.

As you can see, the fans are keen on getting Townsend across the line and if they can sign the winger then they’ll be well placed to challenge for the top-ten next season.
