Video Jukebox – Hillarious penalty argument for Swans

dyermichudeguzman.jpgThis weekend was a cracker in sport – not only did we have the Captial One Cup Final to watch but also a clash between Manchester City and Chelsea. This was England alone and abroad there was the battle of the Milan giants as well as the big French derby in Ligue 1 between Paris Saint Germain and Marseille or as it is more commonly known to ultra contemporary audiences – Barton versus Beckham.

As our punters quip, the video jukebox today was a tough decision to make with brilliant goals, fabulous celebrations and a penalty miss all making the short list. We finally decided on a simply sensational argument and something that lets not lie, took a little gloss off of Swansea’s City’s win over Bradford City yesterday evening.

We in football have seen our fair share of arguments and bickering on the field not to mention a few tantrums – there was the brilliant William Gallas temper tantrum in the middle of the field for Arsenal against Birmingham City which will never be forgotten, not to mention a huge Carlos Tevez paddy where the Argentinian refused to enter the field of play in a Manchester City Champions League tie at Bayern Munich last season. Penalty tantrum wise there was Frank Lampard and Paolo Di Canio back in 2000 not to mention Lampard and Didier Drogba in 2010 when the Ivorian striker was after the Golden Boot.

None of these are quite as funny however as Nathan Dyer’s fury when he realised he would be denied the chance to take the penalty which would have allowed him the match ball at Wembley if the winger converted and the chance to go down in history as not only a cup winner but also the scorer of a hat-trick at the home of English football.

When usual penalty takerJonathan De Guzman stepped up to take the kick, Dyer was distraught and had to be lead away by not only the referee but his team mates Ashley Williams and Wayne Routledge. Despite Dyer now saying the matter was ‘done and dusted’ we still think the video is worth another watch and you can do exactly that by taking a look yourself below.
