A lot of Aston Villa fans knew that James Chester was going to be a doubt for the second city derby this weekend due to an injury he suffered whilst playing for Wales on Friday. However, news broken by Birmingham Live claims that Ryan Giggs knew Chester was injured ahead of Friday’s match and played him anyway, leaving The Villains absolutely seething.

Villa Park will be rocking when Dean Smith takes charge of the club in his first ever second city derby on Sunday. It’s always an occasion when Birmingham come to Villa Park and this time will be no different, although the fans will be desperate to have James Chester fit as he faces a race against time to play. It might not have been that way, though, has Ryan Giggs made the decision to leave the already injured defender out for the Denmark clash on Friday.
Karma bit Giggs in the end, as his side fell to a 2-1 loss against the Danes, a result that saw them maintain their spot in League B. A win would have seen the promoted to League A, and if he’d been fielding 11 fit players then you never know what might have happened. As it was, Chester started and limped off just five minutes into the second half. The defender returned to Villa Park shortly after but now he could be set to miss another game, and a much bigger one at that.

The Villains will be desperate to have Chester available for Sunday but will be prepared for the worst if he’s unable to play.
