Do you ever sit and wonder what you could do with a billion pounds? All the possibilities, buy fast cars, big houses, beautiful women, pay El Hadj-Diouf to naff off forever. Well that’s the amount Abramovich has put into Chelsea transfers since taking over.

And as things stand he must wonder where the money went. This question is no more prominent than in regards to January’s transfer window. Chelsea spent 15 million on Cahill, Kevin De Bruyne, and youngster Patrick Bamford. So far none have made a first team appearance. This is not that shocking as 2 of the 3 were very much signings for the future.
But is AVB’s youth revolution working, and can Chelsea afford to wait for these youngsters to come good. The troubles of Romelu Lukaku show that sitting on a talented youngster till he matures is a gamble. It does not benefit the team whilst he’s not playing, and a player who previously had such success like Lukaku are not always happy on the sidelines. Scott Sinclair told the Independent about his life since leaving Chelsea, “When you go out on loan so many times, you come back and you don’t feel part of it,” said Sinclair. “It was frustrating for me. I took a pay cut to come to Swansea. I’d much rather be at a club where I am playing every week.”
AVB has alienated many first teamers with his focus on youth, but there has been little sign (aside from Josh McEachran) that Chelsea have the young players to take over.
