West Bromwich Albion fans will be celebrating their famous victory against Manchester United in the Transfer Tavern, despite still being nine points from safety.
The Baggies beat Jose Mourinho’s side 1-0 on Sunday, giving Darren Moore his first win and helping his cause to take the vacant managerial job on a permanent basis, however, it appears the Hawthorns outfit could be looking elsewhere.
According to reports in The Mirror, the rock-bottom side are considering to make a move for either Derek McInnes or Tony Mowbray to return to the side and help them with their efforts in the Championship next season, where a number of locals expect their side to be playing football.
McInnes, who played for Albion and also captained the side, has been earning rave reviews in Scotland as he currently manages Aberdeen, whilst Mowbray had a spell with the Baggies almost ten years ago, however, that ended in relegation.
With both managers performing so well with their current clubs, it remains to be seen if whether either of them would be prepared to head back to the Hawthorns, or if they decide to continue doing the jobs they are in.
Landlord’s Verdict
The locals in the Tavern will have a mixed reaction to the two men being named with the vacant managerial position at the club, with punters most likely to favour McInnes. However, Moore could still be named as the permanent boss should he be able to work miracles or give them a proud showing in the final few matches of the season.
