West Brom team news: Quartet unavailable as Moore prepares for Brighton replay

West Bromwich Albion will host Brighton and Hove Albion at The Hawthorns in a FA Cup fourth-round replay on Wednesday night.

The two sides were held to a goalless draw at The Amex a week or so ago and will now compete against each other for a home tie against Derby Country in the next round of the competition.

However, Darren Moore will have been dealt a frustrating blow ahead of the game as three of his new additions will not be able to feature for The Baggies.

According to a match preview by Sky Sports, Jacob Murphy, Stefan Johansen and Jefferson Montero are all ineligible for the FA Cup encounter.

Murphy is cup-tied after playing in the competition for Newcastle United in the earlier stages, whilst Johansen and Montero had signed after the original fixture.

Matt Phillips also remains unavailable for West Brom as he continues to spend time on the sidelines with an ankle injury whilst James Morrison is doubtful with the same issue.

The Verdict:

The news that a quartet of players are unavailable for West Brom will come as bad news to Moore and his side’s chances of qualifying for the next round.

The match against Brighton could be an excellent chance for Albion to progress to the next stage of the competition, but Phillips’ absence could come as a blow.

Although it would have been known that the new additions would not have been available, it could have been an ideal opportunity to get some match minutes under their belts and get used to the system Moore employs at The Hawthorns.
