West Ham United’s poor start to the 2019/20 season continued on Wednesday evening as they suffered a 2-0 defeat against Wolves at Molineux.
It was the seventh defeat in 15 Premier League matches for the Hammers this season and leaves them just two points above the relegation zone (BBC Sport).
Whilst Manuel Pellegrini’s side were far from at their best against Wolves, that doesn’t mean that they didn’t have opportunities to score.
Indeed, arguably the best chance of the match for the east London outfit fell to Robert Snodgrass. The Scottish international got himself into a great position, free of defenders, and Pablo Fornals found him with a great lofted pass.
However, a heavy touch saw him lose control of the ball and ultimately allowed Rui Patricio to come out and snuff out the danger (Sky Sports).
Plenty of West Ham fans couldn’t believe that Snodgrass failed to convert the opportunity given the amount of space he had to try and get control of the ball and slot it past the goalkeeper.
Here is how some reacted to the missed opportunity on Twitter…
How on earth has Snodgrass not buried that?

Lol did you see what Snodgrass just missed? What a fool.

Snodgrass literally missed an absolute sitter and then went down injured and got subbed off through embarrassment because it was so bad, what a club

Oh and that chance missed by snodgrass was almost unforgivable
