West Ham: Fans keen on signing Abdoulaye Toure from Nantes

West Ham United are interested in signing Nantes midfielder Abdoulaye Toure in the January transfer window, that is according to a report from Football Insider.

According to the report, several clubs from Europe have been monitoring the 25-year-old, but the player would prefer a move to the Premier League.

Toure has been a regular for Nantes in Ligue 1 this season, starting 15 games and even scoring three goals despite predominantly playing as a defensive midfielder (Transfermarkt).

Football Insider suggest that the club are keen to sign a central midfielder in January, with Manuel Pellegrini’s only real options in that position so far this season being Declan Rice and Mark Noble with Carlos Sanchez and Jack Wilshere barely featuring (Transfermarkt).

Given Rice’s age and fast development, it would surely be the skipper who makes way for an arrival like Toure.

And it seems that if they did manage to bring the former French under-20 international in, it would be a popular signing amongst the club’s fanbase, many of whom have claimed on Twitter that he would be a good addition.

Here is what some have had to say…
