West Ham have a huge game this weekend away at St James Park and whilst Newcastle come into the game having won their last three games, The Hammers are in quite different form. The last two games that Manuel Pellegrini has taken charge of have been a 1-1 draw with Huddersfield and a crushing 4-0 defeat to Manchester City.

The Irons have now got a run of seven games where they’ll be facing teams who are around them in the table and their Chilean gaffer has claimed that even though on paper some of the games look winnable, none of them will be easy games. That’s a fact that West Ham fans already know, though, and they’ll just be desperate to grab some points from these games, even if winning away at Newcastle is too much to ask for.
The Magpies are only ahead of West Ham on goal difference this season, as they’ve avoided spankings at the hands of the big six sides that they’ve faced. If Rafa Benitez can make it four wins on the bounce then it’s likely that the media will be so sung up on them that they won’t give a second thought to The Hammers, who could well be just one point clear of the drop zone if they lose, and the fans are already bracing themselves for defeat.

The Hammers have little faith ahead of Newcastle and will just hope they can put some kind of run together sooner rather than later.
