West Ham looked like a top-class side yesterday. Manuel Pellegrini had The Hammers firing in their 3-0 win at St James Park and a lot of that was down to the clinical touch of their Mexican sensation, Javier Hernandez. However, Chicharito’s future has been up in the air over the last few weeks and after such a promising performance yesterday, the Irons are desperate to keep him.

Hernandez scored early on away at Newcastle when Robert Snodgrass found him with an inch-perfect cross that he just had to guide past the on-rushing Martin Dubravka. Then, after plenty of missed opportunities for the hosts, Hernandez popped up again to grab his second of the game in the second half, capitalising on a well-worked break for The Hammers to drive low into Dubravka’s near-post.
Pellegrini opting to deploy Hernandez alongside Marko Arnautovic was a genius move for the clash and it paid dividends in the end, as two sides that were so close in the table were made to look a class apart when they took to the field. Before the game, the Magpies were ahead of West Ham on goal difference, but the convincing away win, all inspired by Javier Hernandez, has given the Irons a huge boost as they prepare for the festive run of fixtures.
