Last night saw plenty of West Ham fans taking to Twitter after seeing the news in Europe that one former Hammer had bagged a hat-trick in the Turkish Super Lig. The player in question was the Algerian Sofiane Feghouli and his treble for Galatasaray helped his side to a 4-1 win, prompting the Hammers to claim they should never have sold him.

The Algerian winger only spent one full season with West Ham. After leaving Valencia having contributed 71 goals and assists in 201 games it looked like Slaven Bilic had pulled off a master coup, although what followed wasn’t what any of the Irons who celebrated his signing had predicted as he managed just three goals and three assists in the Premier League in 21 outings.
His numbers hardly impressed anyone, and the winger’s most memorable moment at the club was when he was wrongfully sent off by Mike Dean after a clash with Phil Jones against Manchester United at The London Stadium. In Feghouli’s defence, he signed for free and left for around £4 million so he made the club a profit, it was just a shame he didn’t live up to expectations after such a promising spell in Spain.

I think he would have turned out to be a decent signing, especially under Pellegrini but he's wages were astronomical so it was a risk to keep him.

The Hammers would have loved to have held onto Feghouli for at least one more season even if to just see if he could better adapt to the Premier League in his second season.
