Czech Republic international Soucek, who has played every minute in the top flight for West Ham so far this season, is now facing the axe from the Irons’ starting XI.
Football Insider claim that Moyes is fighting to save his job and is now weighing up the possibility of a ‘reshape’ behind-the-scenes, which could involve dropping the 27-year-old.
The Verdict: Right call?
A physically imposing figure in the West Ham midfield, Soucek has been called a ‘monster’ by some members of the media for his aerial dominance, notably winning two headers per game this season (second-best in Moyes’ squad).
However, in recent times, the former Slavia Prague colossus has struggled to recapture his previous form, with club insider Claret & Hugh even claiming that Moyes is set for a sit down to discuss the 27-year-old’s ailing performances.
That’s not to say that he hasn’t contributed in the current campaign, though, with the 6 foot 4 tank bagging a London derby goal at home to Spurs in August and helping to salvage a 1-1 draw in the process.
Soucek’s quality when playing at his peak is evident from his aforementioned award, but time could be running out for the Czech Republic international to continue being a West Ham untouchable.
