ExWHUemployee has taken to Twitter to issue a promising six-word hint on the possibility of West Ham United signing Brentford centre-forward Ivan Toney in the summer.
This comes after Football.London published an article in which it was suggested that the Irons’ decision to send centre-back Winston Reid out on loan to the Championship side was, in part, motivated by their desire to stay on good terms with Thomas Frank’s side, with the Irons rumoured to be keen on signing Bees attacker Toney when the summer transfer window opens.
Irons news Twitter account @WHUFC_News relayed Football.London’s claim about the potential Toney-related implications of Reid’s loan departure.
After one Hammers supporter tagged ExWHUemployee in response to their tweet, and another replied to them saying that the Irons insider has previously indicated that West Ham ‘like’ the Brentford ace, who is the top goalscorer in England’s second-tier at present, Ex dropped the six-word claim that “relations with Brentford had now improved,”. He explained he’s also revealed via his Patreon account, hat the Reid deal could have been a key development in the east London club’s Toney pursuit.
Would Toney be a good signing for West Ham?

Reid’s loan move from The London Stadium to Brentford Community Stadium isn’t the only bit of business that has been done between these two clubs this season, as Said Benrahma has made a move in the other direction, making his initial loan switch from Brentford to West Ham permanent last month.
So, given that these two clubs are clearly open to doing business with each other, then if the Irons do want Toney to strengthen their options at centre-forward – an area that has been left diminished with the departure of Sebastien Haller last month – then perhaps this is a deal that has a good chance of happening, especially knowing that the clubs are on good terms, at present, as indicated by Ex on Twitter.
