According to a West Ham United source, speaking to Football Insider, Rangers defender Connor Goldson is back on the radar of GSB and David Moyes as they assess central defensive additions – with the club apparently set to target ‘at least one’ senior player in that position.
Goldson, who has been a mainstay for the Gers and Steven Gerrard as they charge towards an SPFL title, starting 30 league matches whilst winning an impressive 4.4 aerial duels per 90 (WhoScored), is now reportedly a target for West Ham.
West Ham eyeing Goldson move
This comes amid potential uncertainty surrounding a new deal at Ibrox, with Goldson entering the final 12 months of his contract this summer as talks over an extension have been delayed.
GSB, as a result, are keeping tabs on his situation ahead of a potential move – even despite the impressive performances from Moyes’ current crop of defenders.
A West Ham source has told Football Insider that the Irons have reignited their interest in Goldson after he was on their radar last year.
Transfer Tavern take
Goldson stands at an imposing 6 foot 3, and Liverpool legend Gerrard certainly rates him judging by his recent praise (The Scottish Sun). Indeed, the former England international described him as ‘immense‘ and a ‘proper leader‘ – potentially highlighting why GSB are apparently keeping close watch.
Time will tell whether they do swoop in the summer, but he seems to be firmly on the Irons radar.
