West Ham won their first game since they beat Manchester United at home on September 22, over the weekend, and it was a much-needed victory for Manuel Pellegrini and his team. The 1-0 win pulled them up to 13th by the end of Saturday, and Hammer-at-heart Declan Rice was over the moon with the result.
In an interview after the game, he described Saturday as “one of the best days of my life” and that struck a chord with the fans, who have been critical of Rice and his teammates for showing a lack of passion and effort over the past couple of months. Rice’s performance was rated 7.43/10 by WhoScored — his highest rating since the Man United win.
West Ham’s official Twitter account posted a clip of the club’s interview with the midfielder on Twitter, where he also apologised to fans for giving them heart attacks every week. Many supporters were quick to show their appreciation for the 20-year-old in the replies.
