Chelsea are ready to make a £40 million bid for West Ham United defender Issa Diop, that is according to a report from the Express.
It suggests that the Frenchman has become Frank Lampard’s top defensive target this month as he looks to bolster his squad after their transfer ban was lifted.
The 22-year-old has played plenty of football for the Hammers this season, making 15 Premier League appearances, 14 of which were starts (Transfermarkt).
Despite the team not performing too well, Diop has done ok, averaging 3.7 clearances per game and winning 68.5% of his aerial duels (SofaScore).
According to the report, David Moyes does not want to lose the centre-back in this window and it is thought that West Ham would only consider selling for a fee of around £50 million.
The club’s supporters certainly don’t want to see the defender leave and many have taken to Twitter to suggest that £40 million is nowhere near enough for the former Toulouse man.
Here is what some had to say…
Should be 60million easy

Add another 60 and we may consider it but I doubt it, despite Pellegrini getting the worst out of him, David Moyes will go on to get the best out of him and prove to the premier league he is one of the best
