West Ham United: Irons react as club confirm loan exit for defender Gonçalo Cardoso

As West Ham United announced a loan exit for Goncalo Cardoso, many Hammers fans have been dropping their opinions as he leaves for FC Basel on an 18-month loan deal – with their being plenty of mixed verdicts on the move.

Cardoso, who was signed by West Ham in the summer of 2019 on a five-year contract from Portuguese side Boavista (club official), with the option to extend for a further year, will now go out on a temporary basis to swiss giants FC Basel in an effort to aid his development.

The Portuguese youth international was a regular for West Ham’s academy team last season, making 16 appearances, but he hasn’t featured as much over 2019/2020 – with the club now announcing he has gone out on loan to Europe.

In response to this development, it’s safe to say supporters have had mixed feelings – find all of their verdicts on Cardoso and his 18-month exit down below.
