West Ham United have been handed an injury boost after David Moyes confirmed that Thilo Kehrer could be set to return for this weekend’s Premier League game vs Southampton.

The Irons secured a 2-1 victory over Anderlecht in the Europa League on Thursday night which saw them finish top of their group, but they had to do it without the services of the 26-year-old.
The German was left out of the matchday squad at the London Stadium after sustaining a knock, but any concerns that he might have been facing a spell on the sidelines have now been erased.

Speaking during Friday’s pre-match press conference, Moyes revealed that Kehrer is likely to be available for selection to face the Saints having rested him in midweek.
As quoted by the club’s official website, he said:
“We took a precaution on Thilo more than anything last night but we hope he’s going to be fine.”
The Verdict: Boost for West Ham
The Irons having Kehrer back at their disposal would be a huge boost for Moyes, who will know how much of an integral member of the starting XI his summer arrival has become.
Praised for his ‘big personality’ by the Scotsman himself, the centre-back has been a rock in the heart of the defence this season, averaging 3.1 clearances and 1.6 interceptions per league game, alongside a pass success rate of 86.9% (WhoScored).
West Ham will be desperate to make it three league wins on the bounce when they travel to St. Mary’s on Sunday, and the return of Kehrer could play a big part in doing so.
