‘What a bunch of clowns’ - FA slammed as Aston Villa star is handed hefty ban

Our Aston Villa fans here in the Transfer Tavern have taken a bit of a knock today with the FA announcing a six-game ban for Leandro Bacuna.

Indeed, despite getting results going their way a little bit more of late after a terrible run, this will surely serve as a significant knock-back – though not completely detrimental.

Bacuna is by no means Villa’s best player but, to be fair to him, he has certainly tried hard this season as the club have tried to get something going.

He over-stepped the mark against Derby County, though, as he confronted a linesman, naturally landing him with a red card and three game suspension.

The FA have announced, though, that his ban has been extended to six games and whilst no-one here in the bar is condoning what the Villa man did, they aren’t sure whether it warrants such a lengthy lay-off.

Indeed, when you look at some of the other bans that have been dished out in recent times for other altercations and discrepancies you can see why there’s been such a reaction both here in the Tavern and on Twitter.
