What does the future hold for Ronan Curtis?

Portsmouth have arguably been the best side in League One this season and currently sit top of the table, four points ahead of Sunderland in second.

The League One side have been in superb form since the start of the season and look almost unbeatable. The south coast club are currently on a seven-game unbeaten streak and have only conceded 15 goals this season.

Pompey have only lost one game this season and thanks to the form of attacking trio, Gareth Evans, Ronan Curtis and Jamal Lowe, Kenny Jackett has a triumvirate that looks like it could take the club back into the Championship.

Curtis, especially has been a star for the club this season. The Irish forward has scored seven goals in the league this year while also creating a further six. Thanks to that form, he was recently called into The Republic of Ireland national side.

The 22-year-old was signed from Irish side Derry City over the summer in a reported £100,000 deal. Although he recently ended a six-game baron streak against Walsall, the dynamic forward began his Portsmouth career incredibly well as he scored five goals in his first six league games for the club.

As a result of his superb form, he has earned rave reviews from the fans and has also attracted the interest of a host of Championship sides, including the likes of Derby County, Sheffield United and Middlesbrough.

With the 22-year-old playing at such a high level, Portsmouth will certainly be in for a fight for his signature over the summer. While the club will likely get promoted this season, it may be hard to keep Curtis at the club.

Regardless of what happens, it seems Curtis’ future is destined for the Championship and possibly beyond.
