Why some Chelsea fans were worried after Liverpool’s clash with Bayern

Chelsea aren’t in the Champions League this season, owing to their fifth-place finish in the Premier League last year, but that doesn’t mean that the competition isn’t being watched by fans of the Blues.

The competition could yet play a role in their domestic hopes this term, especially if rivals like Man Utd and Tottenham continue to progress, but fans had particular reason to pay attention to Liverpool’s game with Bayern Munich on Tuesday, it seems.

For context, Bayern Munich and Chelsea have been in the news frequently together over the last few months, with the German outfit keen on young Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi. The Englishman has had limited minutes at Stamford Bridge, and Sky Sports reported throughout January that Bayern were eager to bring him in.

That obviously didn’t happen, but there’s always a chance that they could come back in for him over the course of the summer transfer window, and their game with Liverpool didn’t calm any fears of Chelsea fans.

Indeed, as shown in the Tweets below, lots of Chelsea fans weren’t impressed by Bayern’s crop of attackers, namely Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry, and they now seem to be very worried about the prospect of Hudson-Odoi leaving – as they’re convinced he’ll play regularly in Germany.
