Sunderland will be focused on securing automatic promotion in the current campaign, having come on leaps and bounds under the guidance of Jack Ross.

The Black Cats managed to secure all three points against AFC Wimbledon earlier on today, which has now moved them within touching distance of an automatic promotion place.

And, the Wearside club were handed a huge boost recently, as according to the Sunderland Echo, Will Grigg has stated that he will be able to train next week.

Indeed, the League One club managed to secure the services of Will Grigg for a reported £4 million.

However, the Northern Ireland international is currently recovering from an injury.

But, Grigg recently confirmed that he should be fit to make his debut next weekend when the Black Cats travel to Oxford United.

And, he provided an update that will be sure to delight supporters recently:

“I had a little ankle injury that’s kept me out but I’m really confident I’ll be able to train next week.”

THE VERDICT:

Will Grigg’s recent injury update will come as a huge boost as he has plenty of experience in League One, including a number of prolific seasons under his belt, so he will play a huge part from here on in until the end of the season.

Indeed, after witnessing Josh Maja’s departure, it looks as if Grigg is the right man for the job.
