The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern were drowning their sorrows after a bitterly disappointing performance in the North London derby this weekend.
As is so often the case in derby matches, the pre-match expectations and predictions were radically different from the realities of the game. Arsenal took the game to Tottenham and deservedly recorded a 2-0 victory, albeit with a helping hand from Mike Dean who awarded the Gunners a highly dubious free-kick that led to the opening goal of the match.
Shkodran Mustafi got his head on the end of Mesut Ozil’s free-kick after Dean’s controversial decision to send Arsenal into a 36th minute lead, before Alexis Sanchez doubled their advantage just five minutes later to secure three massive points and indeed local bragging rights for Arsene Wenger’s side.
For however fantastic Arsenal were on Saturday afternoon, Tottenham were equally as uninspiring, and the Lilywhites fans propping up the bar in the Tavern were lamenting their side’s surprisingly lacklustre performance in the aftermath of the game.
Ealier this morning, Tottenham’s Twitter page offered some words of motivation to boost the spirits of their supporters after a weekend to forget for the club.
A new week and a chance to put things right tomorrow night and maintain our unbeaten start in the @ChampionsLeague. #MondayMotivation pic.twitter.com/3samSt8nh7

But it appears that plenty of Tottenham supporters are still nursing their wounds from the weekend if the response from the fans on Twitter is anything to go by.
A handful of more optimistic supporters were keen to rally in support behind the team and put the negative result behind them as soon as possible.
Here’s what the fans had to say on Twitter…
Agree! 3 back system won’t work unless we had wanyama and on form fullbacks. Need to revert back to 4 backs and put dier in midfield
