West Bromwich Albion fans in the Transfer Tavern would not have thought their season could get any worse, however, news has emerged from the club that one of their main men will likely spend the rest of the campaign on the injury table.
The Baggies currently sit rock-bottom after a disastrous Premier League campaign and have already sacked two proven managers in the process. The locals are resigned to the fact that their team will be playing Championship football next year, however, many feel the latest setback sums it all up.
According to the club’s official website, Gareth Barry is set to undergo minor knee surgery next week, likely ruling him out of the remaining fixtures West Brom still have to play. The former England midfielder suffered the injury at the end of February and has not been able to feature since.
The veteran had been ever-present for the Baggies, making 29 appearances, which included 22 league starts, however, it could be that he has played his last game for The Hawthorns side, although the 37-year-old has reportedly triggered an option in his contract for a one-year extension, Sky Sources believe.

West Brom fans in the Tavern will be cursing their luck this season with a number of punters ready to look ahead to life in the Championship, with many hoping that Barry will be available when they start again in August.
