Southampton fans here in the Tavern are hoping their side can secure another season in the Premier League, after struggling for consistency in the current campaign.
The Saints have looked less than convincing in the current campaign as they edge towards the Championship, with many of our local residents wanting to see a number of changes in the summer. Indeed, Mark Hughes faces an uphill task from here on in as relegation is all but confirmed, with his managerial position currently in doubt.
However, Southampton’s current position can be put down to a couple of their star players failing to meet expectations, as they could be set for an exit in the summer transfer window. Sadly, it looks like it’s a little too late for the Saints to resolve their current league position, with only five games remaining from here on in until the end of the season.
Nevertheless, here’s a look at TWO Southampton stars that are to blame for the current campaign…
Nathan Redmond

Nathan Redmond has had a season to forget as he’s still yet to score in all competitions thus far, with many of our local residents wanting to see the back of him in the summer months.
Indeed, the Englishman was one of the Saints’ standout performers last season but he’s struggled to replicate this in the current campaign, as his lack of quality in the final third has halted the club’s progress at times.
Nevertheless, Redmond is one of the people to blame for the current position that Southampton are in, after failing to produce any half decent performances when he’s been called upon.
Guido Carrillo

Interestingly, Guido Carrillo was brought to St Mary’s in the January transfer window as the player that would fire them to safety, but it hasn’t exactly worked out that way with relegation looking inevitable.
So, the Argentinian can be largely to blame for the mess that the club currently finds itself in, as he also goes on in search of his first goal for the club after signing for a club-record fee.
Therefore, Southampton should look to offload him in the summer transfer window, as he’s already shown that he can’t handle the pressure of the Premier League after a poor first season.
