2 Liverpool stars who should follow Marko Grujic to Aston Villa if he moves in January

Liverpool supporters have been in high spirits in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their side get back to winning ways in the Premier League with a 5-0 demolition of bottom club Swansea City at Anfield on Boxing Day.

Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their clash with the South Wales outfit off the back of letting slip a two-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Arsenal a few days earlier, but they produced another attacking masterclass to ease past the struggling Swans on Tuesday. A brace from Roberto Firmino as well as strikes from Philippe Coutinho, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain secured a comprehensive victory for the Merseyside giants, who reclaimed fourth place from Tottenham following their win over Southampton earlier in the day.

Consequently, there have been many thrilled Liverpudlians in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are eagerly anticipating the New Year and what it could hold for their team under Klopp.

In the meantime though, there has been much for our resident Reds fans to get their teeth into recently, not least reports linking Championship side Aston Villa with a move for midfielder Marko Grujic.

The 21-year-old made the move to Anfield back in 2016 but has since featured just 14 times for the first team, of which only six have come this term to underline his lowly position in Klopp’s pecking order.

And Steve Bruce’s Villa are reportedly seeking to land him on loan in January in a bid to offer him regular football, and were the Serbia international to indeed make the move to Villa Park, here are TWO other Liverpool stars who should follow him to the Midlands outfit…

There have been 534 goals scored in the 199 Premier League matches played so far this season. That, dear friends, is an average of 2.68 per game. This is one of the reasons we have selected a bumper +1.5 goals coupon with excellent LeoVegas odds for this Saturday. Check out our reasoning—plus an absolute winner of an EFL outright win fourfold—in the latest Accy Show!

Adam Bogdan

Reports earlier this season linked Premier League side West Brom with a move for Aston Villa shot-stopper Sam Johnstone, a move which if it were to happen would leave Bruce short in the goalkeeping department.

Thus, they could look to bolster their ranks with Liverpool’s Adam Bogdan, who has failed to make a competitive appearance for the Reds so far this term, what with Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius clearly ahead of him in the pecking order.

And with 97 Championship appearances in his career, the Hungary international could well bolster Bruce’s ranks were he to potentially follow Grujic to Villa Park in January.

Ben Woodburn

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has recently opened the door for young players like forward Ben Woodburn to possibly go out on loan in the second half of the season, and Villa should be one club seeking a move for the 18-year-old.

The Wales international has struggled for first team football at Anfield this season with just one senior appearance to his name, and a loan move away in January appears to be what he needs to get the football required to aid his development.

And with Villa going through a sticky patch in recent times with no win in five Championship games, landing that injection of pace and trickery which Woodburn possesses could be exactly what they need to sustain a promotion push in 2018.
