The Lilywhites in attendance were expecting a good result from the clash, but not even they could have dreamed the final result. Despite Chelsea enjoying quite the run of form in recent weeks, it was Tottenham who came away with the 2-0 victory – with Hugo Lloris rarely threatened throughout the 90 minutes.
The Tottenham fans were absolutely delighted upon the final whistle, and to tell you the truth, some of them still haven’t stopped celebrating.
Nonetheless, despite the good result, a few of the Tottenham fans in the pub are rarely ever happy. Now, they’re calling for Mauricio Pochettino to sign a few new players – and they’ve got a bit of young midfield talent on their minds.
They think that their side could do with a bit of a rebuild in the middle-of-the-park – and our landlord is inclined to agree.
So with that said, here are 2 midfielders Spurs must attempt to seal a deal for this month…
Ross Barkley
Ross Barkley hasn’t really lived up to expectations at Everton – and a move away could be exactly what he needs.
He appears to have stagnated at Goodison Park, with Ronald Koeman failing to get the best out of the young midfielder.
A move to Tottenham might be wise, considering the record that Mauricio Pochettino has for progressing young English talent, with the likes of Dele Alli and Eric Dier benefitting from the Argentine’s management in recent years.
The move may be best for the player, as well as Tottenham.
Isco
A move for Isco would, undoubtedly, be an audacious one – but what a signing it would be.
Undoubtedly one of Europe’s finest midfielders, Isco has rarely been a regular feature at Real Madrid since moving to the Spanish capital – and so a move to Tottenham could prove tempting.
His play style would suit the Pochettino style perfectly, with the young Spaniard an expert at quick, pass-and-move football.
He would surely be pricy, and he might be hard to land – but it is certainly worth a go for Pochettino.
