The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are excited to see how their team will do this season…

The Citizens have enjoyed a decent start to the season, and buoyed by a number of big signings – enthusiasm is certainly high amongst the fans in the Transfer Tavern.

Indeed, big names like Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy have moved to the Etihad and really reinvigorated the team, and surely success is on the horizon.

With a great manager like Pep Guardiola at the helm, there is only one way for Man City to go this season – and most fans think a Premier League title is on the way.

However, for all of the success that the Citizens had over the summer, there was undoubtedly a few missteps. They might not seem that big now, but they could make all the difference come May, and Pep Guardiola could well be kicking himself in a few months.

With that said, here are 2 transfer window mistakes Man City could live to regret…

Alexis Sanchez

Why did they leave it so late?

Man City were always going to be keen on Sanchez, and it makes no sense for them to leave it until the final day. He’s one of the Premier League’s best, and his move would have taken the Citizens to another level.

Their attack is strong enough, so they should be okay without him, but if Guardiola is serious about European glory, he really needs a player like Sanchez going forward.

Maybe next summer…

Defence

Man City improved their defence, there’s no doubt about that.

Benjamin Mendy was a top signing, whilst Danilo and Kyle Walker provide some much-needed depth on the right-hand side.

However, Man City would have been wise to have invested more centrally. Vincent Kompany is fit at the moment,  but as we’ve seen in recent years, that can change in an instant. Elsewhere, both John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi have struggled at points over the last few years – and that is a worry.

Man City should have signed a central defender. Their defence isn’t good enough to compete in Europe yet.
