The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are feeling very positive about their side’s future under Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine manager is building quite the squad at his club, with so many top young players now included in the team on a weekly basis. From Harry Kane to Dele Alli, no other side in the Premier League has as many top quality young players in the first team.

This is, seemingly, something that the club are keen to add to, though. According to the Telegraph, they could be looking to sell Danny Rose in favour of Fulham hotshot Ryan Sessegnon, who has been turning into a fine wideman in recent months. Though he is just 17-years-old, Sessegnon has taken the Championship by storm, and he is certainly ready to make a step up.

Of course, Rose – who is rated at £25.2 million by Tranfer Markt, is one of Europe’s finest defenders, and so he won’t be an easy player to replace, but the fans in the Transfer Tavern are certainly behind the idea of trusting Pochettino’s judgement.

With that said, could this be Tottenham’s potential new-look defence including in-demand wonderkid Ryan Sessegnon?

 RWB – Serge Aurier

Serge Aurier has yet to cement his place in the Tottenham first team, but he’s likely to be Mauricio Pochettino’s first choice long-term.

He provides much more than Kieran Trippier both defensively and offensively, but he does need time to adjust to his new league.

In particular, his offensive forward runs down the right-hand side are likely to endear him to the Tottenham faithful, offering yet another outlet in another facet of this increasingly attractive team.

 CB – Jan Vertonghen

Jan Vertonghen is one of the most consistent defenders in the Premier League.

Having cemented his place in the Tottenham first team over the last few years, he seems to only be going from strength to strength, providing incredible performances on a weekly basis.

In addition to that, his leadership is also crucial, with the Belgian undoubtedly one of the locker room leaders in this team.

CB – Davinson Sanchez

Davinson Sanchez came in over the summer to little celebration, but he is now being lauded as the signing of the summer.

Against all odds, he has broken up what has been the most impressive defence in the Premier League, forcing himself between Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.

He is so calm on the ball, and when he is needed at the back he delivers in droves. Tottenham’s squad is full of talent, and he’s now amongst the best of it.

 CB – Toby Alderweireld/Ben Davies

Toby Alderweireld’s long-term future remains uncertain. He has yet to sign a new contract, and that is a major concern for the Lilywhites. Fortunately, they have a great replacement in the shape of Ben Davies waiting in the wings.

Davies, though more typically used out wide, could have a big impact in this team from the middle. He could likely provide a similar skill set to that of Cesar Azpilicueta at Chelsea. Coming more central, he will be able to use his passing ability to move the ball forward, whilst he will also be able to cover for Tottenham’s wide men.

That said, if Spurs can keep hold of Alderweireld, that will be great. He’s the best option, without doubt, but his replacement isn’t bad either.

 LWB – Ryan Sessegnon

Ryan Sessegnon is, without doubt, one of the most talented young players in England.

A star of the English developmental sides and the Fulham first team, he’s able to play up and down the left-hand side, meaning that a role at wing-back could be perfect.

He provides a fantastic balance of attack and defence, and Pochettino would no doubt be glad to call upon him.

Losing Danny Rose would be a big blow, but it would be softened by the arrival of Sessegnon.
