After putting Swansea City to the sword this weekend, it’s safe to say the Tottenham Hotspur faithful here in the pub are feeling a lot more optimistic indeed.
Spurs were absolutely fantastic as they banged five goals past struggling Swansea City in what was their best show of dominance all season.
It’s going to be a long season and Spurs are going to really have to start picking up points if the are to keep chase in one of the toughest divisions in the world.
But what has been called for on more than one occasion now is some winter additions- players that could seriously help the side in their push for top spot.
It’s a long old season, with a tricky spell post-Christmas and Tottenham desperately need a couple of names to really strengthen their team.
So armed with some suggestions from our Spurs-mad landlord, here are THREE ambitious January signings Tottenham should make to turn their season around…
Stephan Lichtsteiner
Arguably one of the most experienced and consistent right-sided players in Serie A is Stephan Lichtsteiner, who has been absolutely superb for Juventus over the years.
With Dani Alves also now at the club, his play time has been somewhat limited in recent months but still, he’d make a fantastic player to have in this Spurs team.
He’s versatile, quick and hard-working.
Oliver Burke
Bundesliga newcomers Leipzig are causing a real Germany in Germany right now and one man that knows the division well having moved there this summer is Oliver Burke.
The former Nottingham Forest winger has been in good form when given the chance but sadly, he’s not been as effective as perhaps some might have thought.
He’d make a fantastic young addition to this Spurs, where he could play his football where the likes of Dele Alli and Harry Kane once played.
Bacary Sagna
Manchester City have got so many options in their reserves that players like Bacary Sagna is hardly a first-team regular these days.
The former Arsenal man still has plenty to offer in the division and his pace, power and experience going forward would be as good as anyone else in this Spurs squad.
Would make a fantastic defensive option for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
