Spurs are some way off the pace at the top of the Premier League table, and their fans here in the Tavern know a couple of wins are needed if they are to compete come the end of the season.

It’s been a tough old campaign for Mauricio Pochettino and his side, who have failed to rediscover their goalscoring form of last season.

The likes of Kane and Alli have been far quieter this campaign and a disappointing Champions League group stage, means Spurs have just the Europa League left to look forward to on the global stage.

Something is missing in this Spurs side that Chelsea have in abundance and talking to the landlord, who is a huge Tottenham supporter, it’s clear something needs to change at White Hart Lane if they are to push their rivals all the way this season.

And one market few Spurs fans have considered is the Championship as a source for talent but trust us, there are some cracking players in the division this season.

So with that in mind, here’s THREE Championship stars Pochettino should be tracking for Spurs ahead of the transfer window…

Dwight Gayle

Jansson has been quiet since his move to the club and if there is one man really setting the Championship on fire this season, it’s Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle.

During his time with Crystal Palace, he was a little inconsistent and at times, he wasn’t getting as many minutes as he could have but under Rafa Benitez, he’s on fire.

He’s top goalscorer in the division and he’d make a handy addition to a Spurs side that at times, has lacked a little depth this campaign.

Tammy Abraham

Of course, Bristol City forward Tammy Abraham is on-loan from Premier League giants Chelsea but in his first senior season in England, he’s been absolutely superb for the Robins.

Despite City suffering a dip in form in recent weeks, Abraham continues to shine and he’s already scored 13 goals this campaign.

The pocket of Bristol fans here in the Tavern absolutely love the 19-year-old and will be gutted to lose him come the end of the season but could Spurs come in and make a move in January?

Perhaps so – he’d be a great young player to have on the books at White Hart Lane.

Anthony Knockaert

Brighton wideman Anthony Knockaert has been one of the standout midfielders in the Championship this season, and the Seagulls fans here in the Tavern believe he could make the step up to the Premier League.

Of course, they’re hoping he’ll be there with Chris Hughton’s team come May but if not, he’s been touted for a move to the top flight with a big side if Brighton don’t make it.

He’s scored six goals, gets dozens of assists and is a hard worker too. Is he good enough for the Premier League and Spurs though? Supporters here in the Tavern seem to think so.
