Hull City and Stoke City are coming into the game from very different positions in the league – and don’t the fans in the Football Transfer Tavern know it…
Tigers fans in the Tavern were absolutely humiliated to see their team fall 6-1 away at Bournemouth last weekend and for the supporters that travelled down to the South Coast – they won’t have been happy with what they saw.
And neither would new manager Mike Phelan, who last week took the KC Stadium position on permanently. They’ll be looking to seriously turn things around against the Potters.
Until last weekend, Stoke had been one of the worst sides in the league but their 2-0 win over Sunderland would have been a massive confidence booster going forward.
Their fans here in the pub know they’ve got some star names in their ranks, they just need to find their best form.
So with all this in mind, here’s THREE players you need to watch out for in the game this weekend…
Joe Allen
Four goals already this season have seen Joe Allen become a real fan favourite down at the Britannia.
The Potters have been struggling but you’d really fear for them if they didn’t have the Welshman in their ranks, who has been absolutely fantastic so far throughout this campaign.
He bagged a brace in the win over the Black Cats and if he can add goals to his game, former club Liverpool will surely be kicking themselves.
What an inspired piece of business and a signing that looks to only be getting better.
Wiflried Bony
Manchester City loanee Wilfried Bony has been extremely quiet for Stoke City following his summer move to the Britannia but after such little game-time, it was only natural to see him endure a slow start.
Once his fitness kicks in, he will pick up and he looked much more of a threat against Sunderland than he has in any other game so far.
If he is ready and up for this one, Hull City will have a real problem on their hands. We know from his time with Swansea what a force he is upfront, so could this be the game we see the Wilfried Bony of old?
