Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern can come across as a bit of a fickle bunch in the eyes of some other clubs fans, but without a league title win in over a decade, maybe they have every right to be a bit frustrated.

Arsene Wenger consistently gets his team in the top four, but while this is an achievement in itself, the Gunners fans over at the pool table here in the Tavern are slightly edgy about when they will see a title win again.

For years pundits and fans alike have highlighted Arsenal’s need for some top quality in their midfield. Since the days of Vieira, Pires, and Petit, the Gunners have not quite got the adequate replacements in.

With this in mind, our landlord thinks Arsenal need could improve their midfield options, so here are THREE midfielders we think would suit Arsenal, if signed this January…

Isco

Cool Spanish customer Isco is a top quality footballer who can play in the middle, wide, or as a number 10.

While he might not fit the mould of someone to add some steel to the Arsenal ranks, he certainly fits the category of top class players who could well be available this window.

He is not a regular for Madrid when everyone is fit, and a player like Isco needs to play all the time, something he would probably do with Arsenal.

Arturo Vidal

If the Gunners want someone who is going to bring a bit of everything to the Arsenal midfield, then Vidal could be the man.

The Bayern Munich man has been rumoured on plenty of occasions to not being entirely happy in Germany, and this could open the door for a move to England for the Chilean.

Big, strong, and able to get box to box, Vidal would be exactly the sort of player who would slot in at the Emirates.

Ander Iturraspe

The Bilbao midfielder is one of the top talents in Spain outside of the big two, and he looks well suited to the English game as well.

A player of immense quality who excels in the middle of the park, Iturraspe could add something to Arsenal that they perhaps don’t quite have at the moment.

A solid addition, Bilbao would not want to lose him, so a hefty bid may well be required to secure his services.
