It has been a somewhat frustrating start to the 2016/17 campaign for the Spurs followers here in the Transfer Tavern, with many of the group disappointed that they haven’t started better to the season.

Spurs are currently fifth in the Premier League, but more crucially they have been knocked out of the Champions League at the group stages, with a win needed over CSKA Moscow during their last fixture to ensure a Europa League berth.

The injury which kept Harry Kane sidelined for two months hasn’t helped Spurs’ cause and now he is fit and firing they will hope to get back on track.

Ahead of the January transfer window, Lee Clarke takes a look at three realistic signings which Spurs could pursue during the coming month or so.

Isco

The Real Madrid attacking midfielder has been linked with several English Premier League clubs in the past and Spurs could do with a player of his ilk.

Although they do have a feared marksmen in Harry Kane, Spurs could really do with a boost in other areas of the pitch this season and the little Spaniard would add a bit of flair and creativity.

One Spurs fan is chatting away to our knowledgeable landlord and he thinks the signing of Isco would be a remarkable coup, stating that it would increase their chances of qualifying for the Champions League again considerably.

Sandro Ramirez

The Malaga forward has six La Liga goals this season, following his summer switch from Spanish giants Barcelona and he is undoubtedly making a lot of European clubs stand up and take notice of him.

Sandro is versatile enough to play either as a striker or a winger and a striker is something that Spurs desperately need to sign, with Vincent Janssen struggling massively for confidence.

A group of Spurs fans are chatting with each other in the Tavern and one of the bar’s elderly punters thinks that the club should look closer to home for another striker, rather than keep buying foreign imports who can’t cut the league.

Keisuke Honda

The Japanese attacking midfielder has found first-team opportunities hard to come by at AC Milan this season and he could seek new pastures once the January transfer window.

The 30-year-old can play anywhere across a front three and he would make a good addition to the Spurs squad, given his pedigree of playing in top European leagues.

One Spurs fan is throwing some darts at the dart board here in the Tavern and he thinks that the club could do a lot worse in January than sign Honda.
