When Manchester United were going about their business in the summer their local fans here in the Transfer Tavern were loving every minute.
‘We’re going to win the league!’ they would cry by the bar and, after their start, things were certainly looking good for them. United went unbeaten at the start of the season but oh how things have changed now.
The Red Devils fans are doing a very different type of crying at the moment with their side stuck in eighth place in the Premier League, well off the title race pace and manager Jose Mourinho is already cutting a forlorn figure.
It appears that he simply does not know his best side right now and for many Manchester United fans they want to see one man in particular come into the equation because of that – Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The Armenian was signed in the summer with a big reputation but has so far not played anywhere near as much as he could (and perhaps should) have.

You don’t hit double figures for both goals and assists in a season by being a bad player.
The Armenian was a big cog in the Borussia Dortmund machine last season and that is why it seemed like such a coup when Manchester United signed him in the summer.
He has the talent to pull teams apart on his day and would easily do so in the Premier League if he had the chance.
He’s class
We’re not talking about your average Premier League player here, Mkhitaryan is top drawer. He’s hardly been given a chance to adapt and as soon as he’s been given a few minutes he gets hooked again.
Mourinho seems to have already shot his confidence to bits when at Dortmund he looked like a world-beater.
It’s time he was given a proper run in the side.
What have United got to lose?
We’re hardly talking about a side that are ten points clear and so Mourinho is right not to want to risk shaking things up.
United are in a stupor already this season and seem to be, barely, going through the motions.
It’s time the Portuguese boss starts rolling the dice a little more with his selection and see what comes up because at the moment they’re not getting anywhere near that title.
