It just keeps getting worse for West Ham this season and our local Hammers fans here in the Transfer Tavern are pretty fed-up with what’s been a dire campaign so far.

Knocked out of the Europa League before the group stage, a stadium move that is clearly getting on the wick of the fans more and more by the day, and dour performances on the pitch have led to a pretty toxic atmosphere around the club.

It’s stark contrast to the side last season that gave Upton Park a fantastic send-off with a thrilling year that installed optimism in the east London side and their fan-base.

So what’s changed? Well there’s a lot that seems to have gone wrong from last year and our landlord reckons the buck should stop with manager Slaven Bilic.

Players not confident

Watching West Ham and comparing it to last season must make for pretty frightening viewing for their fans.

The players, and it’s not just one or two it’s pretty much all of them, look completely intimidated by the ball.

They’re making the simplest of mistakes and not threatening going forward one iota ensuring the complete despair of their fans.

Lost transfer market talent?

Last season Bilic pulled off some great deals bringing the likes of Dimitri Payet and Manuel Lanzini, but this season looks to have been a bit of a shocker in the market.

It’s early days of course but none of the new signings have done anything to impress, whilst Bilic missed out on a number of targets in the summer.

He clearly doesn’t know his best side due to this and it’s harming the side.

Best players could leave

This is probably the biggest worry for the club’s supporters.

With the new stadium and the now gone European football this season the club were meant to attract more top players to help them progress, but instead it could be their best stars going the other way.

Is Dimitri Payet going to stick around to try and help the club out or is he going to want out? It remains to be seen.
